BRAC – Relocating into the area

Anne Arundel County Maryland is the home to Ft. Meade and the over 5,000 acres where the Fort resides. The National Security Agency (NSA), has resided at Ft. Meade since the 1950’s. There is an abundance of housing in the areas surrounding Ft. Meade, including: Severn, Crofton, Odenton, Columbia, Hanover, Millersville, Glen Burnie and other communities in Anne Arundel, Howard and Baltimore Counties.

When the Base Realignment and Closing initiative (BRAC) is complete, there will be more employees working in the Ft. Meade area than currently work at the Pentagon.

Annapolis, the Capital of Maryland, and home of the Naval Academy is also known as the “Sailing Capital of the World.” The 2010 census shows a population in Annapolis of 38,394. Located on the Chesapeake Bay, at the mouth of the Severn River, Annapolis offers a wide diversity of housing to buyers in all price ranges.

At one point, Annapolis was the temporary Capital of the United States. Congress was in session in the Maryland State House from November, 1783 until June, 1784.

The Maryland State House prides itself in being the longest continuing legislature in the United States. The Maryland legislature has been meeting since 1779. Obviously, there is a lot of history in downtown Annapolis. The State House recently underwent a major renovation.

On November 26, 2007, Annapolis MD hosted many world leaders at the Middle East Peace Conference.
